Free in-home estimate

What happens when we come out.

No charge, no obligation, and no number until we have actually done the math. Every estimate is walked through in person by a King Comfort Consultant.

  • A King Comfort Consultant comes to you. Not a call-center quote, and not a figure guessed off your square footage.
  • We perform a Manual J load calculation. The ACCA industry standard for sizing residential heating equipment: room-by-room measurements, insulation levels, window area and orientation, ceiling height, air leakage and local design temperatures.
  • You see the options side by side. Efficiency tiers, what each runs per month, and which utility rebates your home qualifies for.
  • You get one fixed written price. Equipment, labor, permits and warranty spelled out, with financing options shown alongside. It does not change on install day.

What changed for 2026

The federal 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit, which covered qualifying high-efficiency furnaces, expired December 31, 2025 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Equipment installed in 2026 does not qualify, even if it was purchased in 2025. Utility rebates are now the main source of savings. If your system was placed in service on or before December 31, 2025, ask your tax preparer about claiming it on your 2025 return.

Replacing the AC too?

If your air conditioner is the same age as your furnace, replacing both at once stacks your electric utility's cooling rebate on top of the gas furnace rebate, and it's one install instead of two.

Repair or replace?

Signs it's time for a new furnace.

Not every problem means replacement. These three signs usually mean a new system will cost less over time than keeping the old one going.

Not sure? Have one of our technicians inspect your furnace first. You'll get an honest recommendation on whether repair or replacement makes more sense.

  • Your energy bills keep rising
  • Your furnace is more than 10 years old and may be nearing end of life
  • You're calling for repairs more and more often

How it works

From first call to a warm house.

  1. Book your free estimate

Call or use the form. We set a time for a King Comfort Consultant to come out, usually within a couple of days.

  2. We run a Manual J load calculation

Your consultant works through the house room by room, accounting for insulation, window area and orientation, ceiling height and air leakage, to calculate exactly how much heat your home needs on the coldest days.

  3. We match equipment to the load

With the BTU number in hand we show you the furnaces that fit your home, what each one runs per month, and the utility rebates you qualify for.

  4. You get a fixed price

Written estimate with the equipment, labor, permits and warranty spelled out, plus financing options available with approved credit. No surprises on install day.

  5. We install, usually in one day

NATE and Carrier-certified techs handle removal, install, venting, startup and cleanup. We also file your rebate paperwork.

  6. Backed by our 100% guarantee

If you're not satisfied with the work or the service, call the office and we'll come back and make it right.

What is a Manual J?

Manual J is the residential load calculation standard published by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, and it is the accepted way to size heating and cooling equipment. Rather than working off square footage, your consultant goes room by room: insulation levels, window area and glass type, ceiling height, air leakage, and the winter design temperatures for this part of Chicagoland. The output is a BTU-per-hour heat loss, and that number sets the size of the furnace.

Why sizing decides the price

An oversized furnace heats the house in short bursts, shuts off, and starts again, which means uneven rooms, more wear on the parts, and higher bills. An undersized one runs nonstop on the coldest nights and still falls behind. Getting the load right is also the honest answer to "what will this cost?" — size drives the number, so the price comes after the calculation, not before it.

How much does a new furnace cost in 2026?
Most Chicago and Northwest Indiana homeowners replacing a gas furnace in 2026 land between $4,500 and $11,000 installed. Where you land depends on the size of the furnace, its efficiency (a standard 80% AFUE model or a 96%+ high-efficiency model), and your current setup, including venting and ductwork. High-efficiency furnaces cost more up front but save more on gas bills. Every quote starts with a free in-home estimate and a Manual J load calculation.
Why won't you quote a price over the phone?
Because the honest number depends on things we cannot see from a phone call. Furnace size is the biggest driver of what an installation costs, and the Manual J load calculation is what sets it. Venting changes, duct modifications, gas line or electrical work, difficult access and permit fees all move the total as well. Once the load calculation is done you get one fixed written price covering equipment, labor, permits and warranty, and it does not change on install day.
What is a Manual J load calculation, and why does King do one?
Manual J is the residential load calculation standard published by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America. Instead of sizing a furnace from square footage, a King Comfort Consultant works through your home room by room and accounts for insulation levels, window area, ceiling height, air leakage and local winter design temperatures. The result is a BTU-per-hour heat loss that determines the right furnace size. An oversized furnace short-cycles and wears out faster; an undersized one runs constantly and falls behind on the coldest days.
Are there rebates or tax credits for a new furnace?
Utility rebates, yes; the federal tax credit, no. The federal 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit expired December 31, 2025 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Systems installed in 2026 do not qualify, even if the equipment was purchased in 2025. Utility rebates through Nicor Gas, Peoples Gas, North Shore Gas, NIPSCO and ComEd are still available, and we file that paperwork for you on qualifying installs.
How long will the installation take?
Most new furnaces go in within one day. Larger or more complex systems, access issues, or needed changes to ductwork, venting or wiring can add time. We give you a timeline with your free in-home estimate.
How do I know I can trust your team?
We have been helping homeowners with heating and cooling for more than 50 years and have earned several Best of Chicago's Southland awards. We hold an A+ from the BBB and are a BBB Torch Awards for Ethics winner, and we have been recognized for service and product excellence by Carrier and Angi.
