King was founded in 1968 at the corner of 159th and Cicero Avenue in Oak Forest. The goal then is still our mission today: exceptional service at a fair price.

Our story, year by year.
1968Jack King founds King Heating
Jack King opens a heating service in Oak Forest, IL, known from the start for quality workmanship and customer care.
1972The Tin Man goes up
King puts the Tin Man on top of the building. He quickly becomes part of the brand and a local landmark.
1997Tim Willson buys the business
Tim keeps the tradition of quality service going and guides King into a new era of growth. In 2000, the whole team is still just four or five people.
2006The Tin Man comes down
A local ordinance forces the Tin Man off the roof, taking a familiar figure off the Oak Forest skyline.
2011The Tin Man is restored
After a legal judgment, the Tin Man goes back on the roof, a sign of King's resilience and local roots.
2014Luke and TJ Willson join
Tim's sons join the business, continuing the family tradition and bringing fresh energy.
2016First TV commercial airs
King's first TV commercial brings the brand to more homes across the area.
2017BBB Torch Award for Ethics
The Better Business Bureau recognizes King's ethical practices. King has held a BBB A+ rating since 2007.
2021Hollaway-Meyer's joins King
King acquires Hollaway-Meyer's Heating & Air, Hammond's HVAC name since 1927.
2022Chicagoland Heating & Air joins King
King acquires Chicagoland Heating & Air Conditioning, founded on 79th Street in Chicago in 1948.
2023Skokie Valley Air-Control joins King
King adds Skokie Valley Air-Control, serving the Chicago area since 1970.
